AKT Trading Inc., based in Torrance, California, has issued a recall of several prepared vegetable products due to a potential risk of Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium responsible for botulism poisoning. The recall affects products manufactured by Choshiya Honten Co. Ltd., which were distributed at Tokyo Central and Marukai stores across California, including locations in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Cupertino.
The recalled items include the Abura-Itame Zhasai Prepared Sichuan Vegetable , sold in an 8.8-ounce plastic bag under the brand name Choshiya, and several products under the brand name Japanese Pickles. According to Food Safety News, the recall was discovered on February 18 at a Tokyo Central store.
The recall was initiated because the products lack the essential “Keep Refrigerated” label , which could lead to hazardous bacterial growth if the products are stored at room temperature. Consumers are advised not to consume these products, even if they do not appear spoiled, and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund…
