Plan for suicide prevention barrier on Coronado Bridge moves forward

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Coronado Bridge has been an icon of the San Diego skyline for decades. But sadly, it has also long been a magnet for desperate people who want to take their own lives.

Retired Coronado Fire Captain Wayne Strickland says he has witnessed this tragedy far too many times.

“On the bridge, they used to pick them up and bring them over to the boat ramp and firefighters would do CPR to try and save them,” Strickland recalled…
