California Flood Watch: Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding Possible in Los Angeles and San Diego by Wednesday Night

Los Angeles, CA – A Flood Watch has been issued for much of Southern California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, and Ventura counties, as an incoming atmospheric river is expected to bring heavy rainfall from Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm system will generate moderate to heavy rain, with rates between 0.50 and 0.75 inches per hour. Thunderstorms could increase rates to 1 inch per hour in some areas, particularly in the mountains below the snow level. This raises concerns about flash flooding, especially near recent burn scars such as the Bridge, Line, and Airport fire areas.

The Flood Watch affects numerous regions, including the Santa Monica Mountains, Santa Ana Mountains, Inland Empire, and the coastal areas of Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles counties.
