Santee hair salon rampage suspect faces judge after he fled to Florida

SANTEE, Calif. — A man accused of a violent outburst at an East County hair salon appeared in court Tuesday after being arrested in Florida following a failure to appear at a previous hearing.

August Marriott, 28, was arraigned on six counts, including assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and vandalism stemming from a January incident at a Great Clips in Santee. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecutors allege Marriott became enraged after arriving late for a haircut, unleashing what witnesses described as hate speech while throwing bottles and products throughout the salon. When a customer attempted to intervene, Marriott allegedly threw a bottle at her, causing arm injuries…
