Lithium-ion battery fires on the rise in San Diego County: What you need to know

SAN DIEGO — A hidden danger could be sitting in your garage, tucked in your e-bike, or even charging in your living room. Lithium-ion batteries—commonly found in everything from smartphones to scooters and electric vehicles—are behind a growing number of fires in San Diego County.

According to records obtained by CBS 8, at least 83 fires over the past year have been linked to these rechargeable batteries.
