College Avenue in San Diego Slated for $1.8 Million Upgrade, Expect Nightly Detours April 21-24

The City of San Diego has announced that starting April 21 at 10 PM until 5 AM, and repeating each night through April 24, they’ll be giving College Avenue the spa treatment it badly needs, from Del Cerro Boulevard to the intersection of Canyon Crest Drive and East Campus Drive/Alvarado Road. You’re looking at more than two shiny lane miles being spruced up, a deal ringing in at about $1.8 million, according to the City of San Diego.

Motorists, note that the eastbound and westbound ramps connecting College Avenue with Interstate 8 are scheduled for full closure. In coordination with Caltrans, the City of San Diego will implement this closure as part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement project. However, the northbound and southbound lanes on College Avenue will remain open, though traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during construction. Commuters should anticipate increased congestion beginning the following morning.
