Vehicle collision in Escondido leaves teen dead Easter morning

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — The Escondido Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that left a 16-year-old dead on the morning of Easter Sunday.

The incident happened on Bear Valley Parkway near Canyon Road. A press release from the police department said the 16-year-old and another juvenile motorcyclist were northbound when he struck the right curb and lost control.

According to the release, witnesses stopped and attempted to provide aid, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said DUI was not a factor in the crash. Both directions of Bear Valley Parkway were closed for several hours while officers investigated and documented the scene…
