Man in custody after SWAT standoff in La Jolla neighborhood

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man is in custody after a six-hour SWAT standoff Tuesday in a La Jolla neighborhood.

The San Diego Police Department, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and SWAT teams arrived at a home in the area of La Jolla Scenic Drive and Via Casa Alta, near the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial, around 10 a.m. Tuesday for reports of threats.

The police department reported that a person was in their car with a gun, refusing to get out.

Around 4:20 p.m., FOX 5/KUSI learned authorities were able to convince the 20-year-old man to throw the gun out of the window and take him into custody without incident…
