Sojourner Truth’s legacy sails strong as her descendant christens Navy ship

SAN DIEGO — The future USNS Sojourner Truth was christened on Saturday by a descendant of the 19th-century civil rights activist at General Dynamics NASSCO. The T-AO 210 was built for the U.S. Navy, and it took about two years to complete.

Barbara Allen, Sojourner Truth’s sixth-generation granddaughter, had the honor of christening the ship.
