San Diego Man Arrested on Murder and Attempted Murder Charges After Violent Incident

A San Diego neighborhood was rocked by violence yesterday morning, resulting in the death of one man and the subsequent arrest of another, who faces murder and attempted murder charges. The San Diego Police Department has said that the events unfolded early when they received calls regarding a shooting incident at a residence on Skyline Drive, followed by another at a nearby liquor store.

Authorities were alerted around 8:24 AM about a man with a gun and subsequently learned of potential shots fired at Moonlight Liquor, located at 101 South Meadowbrook Drive. On arriving at the scene, officers noticed a man, later identified as Adrian Godinez, entering the backyard of 8240 Skyline Drive, with blood on his person, and near the home’s entrance. Setting a perimeter and bringing in SWAT, officers observed Godinez discard his clothes, handle a handgun, and eventually surrender, according to a press release from the San Diego Police Department.

During a welfare check inside Godinez’s residence, police discovered a man in his fifties who had sustained a gunshot wound and was promptly taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The connection between Godinez and the victim, believed to be co-inhabitants of the location, is still under investigation.
