The City of Carlsbad Police Department was involved in a high-speed chase last Saturday night that ended with the arrest of a wanted felon, according to a social media post published by the department. The pursuit spanned over 31 miles through the heart of San Diego County, per the City of Carlsbad Police Department.
The encounter began when Sergeant Ramirez recognized a man from a previous encounter at a gas station. A records check subsequently confirmed an active felony warrant out for the man. Officers sought to perform a compliance check due to his probation status, but he allegedly chose to abruptly flee the scene in his vehicle, engaging police officers in a high-speed pursuit. In their statement, the City of Carlsbad Police Department explained, “After being ordered to exit the vehicle, he suddenly drove off, leading officers on a high-speed, 31-mile pursuit.”
