SAN DIEGO — San Diego County’s home prices are some of the most expensive in the country, but the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector offers a way to buy affordably through the county’s 2025 online property tax re-offer auction.
Here’s how it works: People interested in bidding on one of the 359 properties must register here by May 2. The auction will be live from May 9-14, and anyone can bid online during the property tax option. Bidders must also submit a refundable $1,000 deposit and a nonrefundable $35 processing fee. Higher deposits will be required to bid on certain properties.
“We encourage hopeful bidders to go online and register for the available properties we have in San Diego. It’s our goal to sell every parcel; selling these properties enables us to generate revenue for the county and helps us provide needed services in our community,” said San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister.

- 12 parcels of land
If one’s property is up for auction and they want to avoid it going up for sale, McAllister says they can redeem their property by paying the taxes and fees owed before 5 p.m. on May 8.
