Rogue Warriors versus Rogue Judges
Thomas Calabrese – It was 9:00 PM on Sunday evening and Navy Seal Bobby O’Reilly was driving back from his aunt’s house in San Juan Capistrano after a birthday celebration for his teenage cousin, Crystal. He wasn’t due to report to his unit in Coronado until 8:00 AM on Monday, but he wanted to get a good night’s sleep because his team was schedule for a long swim. He was listening to the radio while cruising along in the slow lane as cars whizzed by him.
Earlier in the same day, San Diego Superior Court Judge Adam Waters was attending a major fundraiser in Santa Monica. Judge Waters was the new poster boy for his political party and they wanted him to run for Governor of California. After that, he planned to run for President of the United States. Judge Waters was a morally bankrupt individual that would say or do anything to further his own insatiable need for power and wealth and his arrogance was only exceeded by his evilness. He had drank and eaten too much at the event while hobnobbing with the political elite and big-time donors and by the time he reached San Clemente, Judge Waters was feeling nauseous and sick to his stomach. Add to that, his senses were dulled by alcohol and the wise decision would have been for this high ranking jurist to pull over and rest until he sobered up. Judge Waters’ ego was writing checks that his body could not cash and he wanted to make it to his home in Rancho Santa Fe as quickly as possible so he increased his speed. This is the worst thing he could have done because it initiated a series of disastrous events.
As he pulled alongside Bobby O’Reilly’s vehicle, Judge Waters weaved into the Navy Seal’s lane and smashed into his vehicle. Bobby was startled and fought to maintain control and stay on the road. Judge Waters passed out as the two vehicles weaved and skidded back and forth across the four lanes in unison. A hundred feet behind them was a Toyota Sienna van with three elderly couples that were returning to Vista after attending a wedding reception in Dana Point for a mutual friend’s grand-daughter. Bobby’s car flipped over and the driver of the van veered to avoid a collision with it, lost control and crashed into the median. The van burst into flames as Judge Waters’ Cadillac Sedan skidded to a stop as Bobby crawled out of his crumpled vehicle and looked around. The burning van immediately caught his attention when he heard the screams of anguish from the occupants, but it was too late for him or anyone else to do anything. Bobby was bruised and shaken up, but God was looking out for him and he suffered no serious injuries…
