SAN DIEGO — Android and Google Messages users are getting a new layer of protection against bothersome scam texts. Google has updated its scam detection technology to specifically target a growing threat: fake texts claiming you owe unpaid tolls.
These messages may warn of fines or legal action and urge users to click a link, but it’s all a scam.
“They’ll try to get information out of you like usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, information that they can use to make money off of your identity,” Nikolas Behar, a Cybersecurity Professor at the University of San Diego, said…
