SAN DIEGO – A judge has set a new trial date after a jury could not come to a verdict in the case of a man accused of murder in a stabbing at a McDonald’s restaurant.
Armando Manuel Parras, 33, appeared last week before San Diego Superior Court Judge David Berry and waived his right to a speedy trial in the death of Joshua Goodman, 44, who was stabbed the morning of Aug. 30, 2023.
Berry scheduled the new trial for Aug. 5, vacating a June 18 date he set last month after declaring a mistrial in the case. Jurors had deadlocked 11-1 following four days of deliberations. It was unclear whether they were leaning in favor of conviction or acquittal…
