Glaciers in Mexico melting away, extinction feared

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Yes, glaciers do exist in Mexico, at least for now, according to Hugo Delgado Granados, Volcanologist with UNAM university in Mexico City.

Delgado Granados fears the last three glaciers in Mexico will likely melt completely within five years due to climate change.

He says temperatures in the Mexico City valley have gone up by an average 2.14 degrees in recent years affecting the snow pack and ice in the mountains that cradle Mexico City where the glaciers are located.
