Scoop San Diego returns with sweet treats and a sustainable twist

The 7th Annual Scoop San Diego Ice Cream Festival, presented by Pacific Health Group, returns to North Park on Sunday, June 22, from 12–4 p.m., bringing together some of the region’s best ice cream, gelato, and paleta makers for an afternoon of sampling, music, and community fun.

This year, the festival is partnering with ProduceGood, a local nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste. Several vendors will debut exclusive flavors made with rescued produce — think surplus strawberries, ripe peaches, and other “imperfect” fruits turned into inventive, small-batch scoops.

A new feature this year is the Best Flavor of the Year competition, judged live by well-known local chefs Claudia Sandoval, Zuliya Khawaja, and Sam The Cooking Guy. Attendees can also vote for the People’s Choice winner…
