San Diego Weekend Guide: June 6-8 – Concerts & Carousels

Music is in the air this San Diego weekend, especially on Saturday. But along with the concerts, there’s dance, a new museum exhibit and a chance to get a jump on Father’s Day too.

The San Diego Natural History Museum unveils “Amazement in the Basement,” where you can actually slip down to the lower level to sneak a peek at what’s not out on the main floors. It’s intended to feel like “an all-access pass to the museum” and since the entry is dominated by a suspended whale skeleton, there’s something amazing to see immediately. Also, get a load of the brand-new Paleontology Center at Nat at Night, a Friday special feature, where tickets are half off, so $12, and the fun starts at 5 p.m., with beer and wine on the roof.

Oceanside Art Walk begins its 12th season, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a concert to follow at 8 p.m. Along with live music and art, Friends of the Oceanside Public Library will host a reading and book signing with Jolie Tunnell, author of the Idyllwild Historical Mystery Series…
