CBP Seizes Over $17 Million in Illicit Drugs in San Diego During May Operations

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers from the San Diego Field Office demonstrated their diligence by shutting down May with over $17 million worth of illicit drugs intercepted. The haul totaled 7,854 pounds of various narcotics, according to a report from the CBP. These operations are not just high-value strikes in the material sense but are pivotal in disrupting the monetary and logistical veins that supply the lifeblood of trafficking syndicates.

The officers’ efforts also highlighted an impressive variety of narcotics intercepted, including a hefty 6,298 pounds of methamphetamine, 1,267 pounds of cocaine, 256 pounds of fentanyl, and 33 pounds of heroin. They made these confiscations across 115 documented interceptions. A particular incident at the Calexico East Cargo Facility underscored their successful month. There, officers discovered 100 packages of cocaine hidden inside the air tanks of a tractor-trailer, weighing in at a substantial 245.28 pounds.
