Delays expected after ground stop issued for San Diego International Airport

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a brief ground stop order Monday for San Diego International Airport due to foggy conditions, prompting delays for a number of inbound and outbound flights.

The ground stop was issued just before 8 a.m. and remained in place until just after 9 a.m. for the period of low flight ceilings. Per the FAA, there was a low probability of extension, but delays and other impacts from the ground stop could linger throughout the day.

As of 10 a.m., more than 100 departing and arriving flights have been delayed, while two have been canceled, according to the air travel website, FlightAware. Delays are averaging about 15 to 30 minutes…
