SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A water contact closure was issued by county health officials for a segment of the La Jolla coastline in between the Cove and the edge of the Shores on Monday due to a sewage spill in the area.
The release occurred off the coast of the residential area near Spindrift Drive and Princess Street, just beyond the southern tip of the Shores beach and to the north of the La Jolla Cove.
Approximately 175 gallons of sewage spilled into the Pacific Ocean in the incident, the county says. Further details about what caused the release were not disclosed.
