SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — It’s almost that time of the year when the night sky comes to life with pyrotechnics in celebration of America’s Independence Day.

Whether your annual tradition is to host a beachside picnic, fire up a grill at a local park or attend a patriotic viewing party, here are some areas across San Diego County where you can view fireworks on the Fourth of July.

City of San Diego

  • Big Bay Boom*
  • When: 9 p.m.
  • Where: Along San Diego Bay (Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District or Coronado Ferry Landing)

*Viewers can watch Big Bay Boom live on FOX 5/KUSI from 8-9:30 p.m.

  • Seaworld San Diego July 4 Fireworks
  • When: 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: 500 Sea World Dr.

City of Coronado

  • Coronado Fourth of July
  • When: 9 p.m. (pre-fireworks events start at 7:30 a.m. and last throughout the day at various locations)
  • Where: Coronado Municipal Golf Course (2000 Visalia Row, Coronado)

North County

  • Red, White & BOOM! 4th of July Fireworks
  • When: 8:30 p.m.
  • Where: LEGOLAND California (One Legoland Dr., Carlsbad)
  • San Diego County Fair Fireworks Spectacular
  • When: 9 p.m.
  • Where: 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar
  • Old Fashioned Fourth of July
  • When: 6-9 p.m. (Pre-fireworks activities take place at Old Poway Park at 14134 Midland Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Where: Poway High School (15500 Espola Road, Poway)

South Bay

  • Imperial Beach Fireworks
  • When: 9 p.m. (Pre-fireworks activities start at 1 p.m.)
  • Where: Portwood Pier Plaza (10 Evergreen Ave., Imperial Beach)
  • Chula Vista 4th Fest
  • When: 9 p.m. (Gates open at 7 p.m.)

  • When: 9 p.m. (Pre-fireworks activities start at 2 p.m.)
