San Diego County explores pilot program to house more homeless veterans

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Veteran homelessness is falling in San Diego and county leaders are working to drive that number even lower.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to look into the possibility of a pilot program that would expand an existing voucher program and specifically dedicate beds to homeless veterans.

“These are individuals who risk their lives in service of our country. I think it’s unacceptable that we still have veterans in San Diego County sleeping on the streets,” said District 5 Supervisor, Jim Desmond, who is spearheading the plan…
