The crew of a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter made a safe emergency landing in Otay Mesa this week after detecting a possible malfunction, the USMC reported Friday.
The personnel aboard the Bell UH-1Y Venom became aware of the possible tail-rotor problem at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday while preparing to land as part of a training exercise, according to a statement from the 3rd Marine Air Wing.
“The air crew landed safely and remained overnight with the aircraft,” according to the statement. “On (Thursday), the aircraft was inspected, determined safe for flight and returned to Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton.”…
