SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Firefighters were able to quickly put out a brush fire that was burning close to highway lanes near the interchange with I-5 and highway 56 in Carmel Valley in San Diego.
Crews arrived at a brush fire that broke out just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday right next to Interstate 5 south and highway 56, near the Carmel Valley Road exit.

Dozens of fire crews responded and were able to quickly douse the brush fire before it caused any road closures.
The brush fire was reported to have grown to about 4 acres before crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread in less than an hour, per the Watch Duty app.
A few fire engines were expected at the scene through Sunday evening to extinguish any hot spots…
