Triple-Digit temperatures threaten 70% of inland California starting tuesday

San Diego, California – Southern California is about to shift from warm to dangerously hot as a significant heat wave moves into the region starting Tuesday, bringing the potential for triple-digit temperatures, heightened fire risks, and prolonged discomfort through the end of the week.

The National Weather Service forecasts that inland temperatures will begin to climb sharply Tuesday as a strong high-pressure system intensifies over the Desert Southwest. The hottest days are expected to be Wednesday and Thursday, when highs across the interior valleys, mountains, and deserts will rise 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal norms.

Forecast models show a 40% to 70% chance of triple-digit temperatures in parts of San Diego County’s interior, including Ramona and Pine Valley. In the lower desert regions, such as Borrego Springs and the Imperial Valley, highs may approach 115 degrees depending on local humidity.
