There is a growing expectation among the public that law enforcement officers be outfitted with and operate body-worn cameras during their on-duty interactions.
For example, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the largest local law enforcement agency in the county, has equipped its officers with the devices since 2017. In March 2022, the department announced deputies would be wearing cameras inside of county jail facilities and showed cameras made by Axon, as well as where they were charged and a digital platform that shows the video feed.
