A man has been detained following a standoff that stretched just over two hours in Pala. The incident occurred yesterday, when deputies from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation were called to the Pala Mini Mart on the 11000 block of Pala Road. The call came in response to a sighting of a man suspected of domestic violence earlier in the day, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found Xavier Hernandez, born on February 22, 1993, who had reportedly been involved in domestic violence before the standoff. With swift assertion, Hernandez barricaded himself inside his vehicle parked near the mini mart’s gas pumps, prompting an escalation in the department’s response. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the situation necessitated the deployment of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT) to aid in resolving the confrontation peacefully.
