The Backyard Battles in San Diego

Have you noticed the growing number of stories in recent days about neighborhoods battling proposed developments?

On Monday, a group called Neighbors for a Better Pacific Beach sued the City of San Diego to block a controversial giant sized ADU, accessory dwelling unit, planned in PB. The neighbors say that with more than 100 ADU units, it would risk public safety and hurt the environment in PB.

Last weekend in San Diego’s Middletown neighborhood, there was a rally by dozens of homeowner marching against a proposal to build a 14-story, 160-unit apartment building in a neighborhood of single family homes. One of them telling the Times of San Diego, that the 14 story high rise “does not fit into the community.”…
