The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office has enlisted the public’s assistance in the search for Sunnie Eagleton, a 17-year-old Native American female who went missing from the Pala Indian Reservation. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, Sunnie was last seen around 2 PM last Saturday after allegedly running away to avoid returning to Texas with her family.
Concern for Sunnie’s welfare escalated when her mother reported her as a runaway on August 6th. Being her first such incident of running away, Sunnie is deemed at-risk by authorities. Following the report, the California Highway Patrol was notified to issue a Feather Alert, which is designed to expedite the process of locating missing Indigenous persons under dubious or unclear circumstances. Having red straight long hair, brown eyes, and weighing around 130 pounds, Sunnie was last spotted in a gray shirt, black shorts, and carrying a black and pink handbag or backpack.
