SAN DIEGO — For more than two decades, electric vehicle drivers in California have enjoyed a major perk: access to carpool lanes, even when driving solo. But that benefit—granted through the state’s Clean Air Vehicle decal program—is coming to an end.
Starting Oct. 1, those decals will no longer give single-occupant EV drivers access to high-occupancy vehicle lanes, affecting hundreds of thousands of Californians.
