SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A large police presence, including a Bomb Squad unit, responded Saturday afternoon to a vacant building in Kearny Mesa, authorities confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI.
According to the San Diego Police Department, officers were called to the 9300 block of Balboa Avenue around 2 p.m. after reports of multiple transient individuals entering the unoccupied building.

When officers arrived and entered the building, the individuals fled, leaving behind several large bags described by police as “suspicious.” SDPD was not able to clarify what made the bags appear suspicious, but said that out of an abundance of caution, an X-ray unit from the Bomb Squad was dispatched to inspect them.
