A group of San Diegans was in Kiev, Ukraine, early Thursday morning when a Russian drone and missile attack killed 22 people.
Members of the Shield of Freedom of San Diego were there to deliver first aid kits and other medical supplies and donations collected in San Diego.
“It sounds like constant thunder but louder. It’s a very distinct sound (when missiles explode),” said Mira Rubin, president of the nonprofit organization. “We were woken up and trying to figure out if we should be going to the bomb shelter.”…
