San Diego, CA–A 35-year-old man in custody at San Diego Central Jail died Saturday afternoon after being found unresponsive in his cell, authorities said.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 3:08 p.m. on August 30, when other inmates alerted deputies that the man was in medical distress. Deputies entered the cell, found the man unresponsive, and initiated lifesaving measures while calling for medical staff and emergency services.
San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel and paramedics arrived at the jail and continued life-saving efforts, and transported the man to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m…
