Recent San Diego crashes claim lives of eight people

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victims of several deadly San Diego crashes that happened in recent weeks, including one woman who was found dead 12 hours after a hit-and-run car crash and another woman who was fatally hit by multiple cars.

Fatal crash near Sea World Drive

The medical examiner’s office identified Celeste Necochea, 61, who was found dead on the side of the road about 12 hours after a hit-and-run car crash where she was reported to be a passenger.

Necochea was found under damaged trees and bushes by someone passing by around 1 p.m. on August 30 near the area of the crash the night before on Sea World Drive near West Mission Bay Drive, according to the medical examiner.

The incident is under investigation by the San Diego Police Department. Police said earlier this month there is no suspect in custody and did not provide details of a possible suspect or the driver who fled on foot from the scene.
