San Diego approves $875K payout to man shot with bean bag rounds and bitten by police canine

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego City Council approved a $875,000 payout to an unarmed man who was shot with three bean bag rounds and attacked by a police canine in October 2024.

City councilmembers approved the settlement payment at a Sept. 9 council meeting to Marcus Evans, who suffered a broken leg and other injuries during the October 24, 2024, altercation with police at Evans’ South San Diego home.
