Support offered to Lakeside residents who lost homes in Coches fire

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The County of San Diego and AlertSanDiego have launched an online resource for fire victims who lost their homes and businesses or sustained damages in the Coches Fire.

The Coches Fire broke out on Sept. 8 in brush along Los Coches Road between two neighborhoods close to the I-8 freeway in Lakeside.

Evacuations lifted for Lakeside fire that burned several homes

The fast-moving brush fire tore through the Monterey Lodge Mobile Home Park, destroying six mobile homes and damaging an unknown amount of surrounding structures. Firefighters were able to stop the spread at 5.3 acres.

Crews are still inspecting the area to try to get a grasp on the full extent of the damage. Two people were injured in the brush fire, one from burn injuries and one from smoke inhalation.
