Tropical moisture puts on light show in San Diego mountains, deserts

Those who had a view of East County on Thursday night were able to see a spectacular light show over our mountains and deserts.

Between 7 and 9 p.m. East San Diego County had a very active day with more than 2,861 lightning strikes, with 108 cloud-to-ground strikes, according to the National Weather Service.

San Diego ended up getting close to a half-inch of rain for several coastal and inland communities in the central and southern parts of the county. The North County only got half of that, Bledsoe said.

Rain chances diminish on Friday as most of that tropical moisture moves to the north, but still expect to feel humidity…
