SAN DIEGO — A San Diego man experiencing homelessness has filed a federal lawsuit alleging a San Diego Police Officer assaulted him, breaking his nose and dislocating his shoulder during an August 2024 altercation.
In his lawsuit, Cleo Barry says San Diego Police Department Officer Rogelio Medina and several unidentified officers used excessive force, battery, and violated his civil rights.
The lawsuit, filed by Cleo Barry, states that he was sitting near San Diego City College on August 15, 2024, when Officer Medina approached him. Barry’s lawsuit states that Officer Medina had issued a ticket to Barry for unlawful camping on the previous day.
