San Diego Search Teams Successfully Locate Missing 77-Year-Old Man in Riverbed

The efforts of the San Diego Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, along with the San Diego Police Department, culminated in the safe recovery of a 77-year-old man missing since September 14. As reported by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the man, described as having memory issues, was last spotted in the Mission Valley area.

Launching a search operation last Thursday, after a request from the San Diego PD, over two dozen Sheriff’s SAR Volunteers set out to locate the elderly man. A post from the Sheriff’s office detailed that the missing individual was found in a riverbed just after 1:00 PM by SDPD Officer Alec Flores and SAR volunteers Nelson Tum and Russ Machado. Last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray sweater at his disappearance, the weather had turned cold, and fears for his well-being had considerably mounted…
