SAN DIEGO — San Diego is the third most childless city in the U.S., according to newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
According to the data, just over 17.4% of San Diego’s 1.4 million people are under the age of 18 years of age. That is the third lowest percentage for major cities with populations greater than 750,000 people.
Only Seattle, 14%, and San Francisco, 13.4%, had a lower number of children than San Diego. Austin, TX, was closely behind San Diego, with 17.6% of the population under 18 years of age, and Los Angeles had the fifth-lowest number, at 18.5%.
