SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — Some San Diego Starbucks locations are serving their last lattes soon. The company is shutting down about one percent of its North American stores this month, including at least a dozen here in San Diego.
The announcement came suddenly Thursday, and the stores won’t even make it through the weekend. Signs are already posted at stores preparing to close Sunday.
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol, who took over last year, says the “Back to Starbucks” plan means shutting down underperforming locations or those that “don’t have the physical environment customers and partners expect.”…
