SAN DIEGO — Several sea lions with visible injuries from fishing wire and hooks have been observed at La Jolla Cove in recent weeks, sparking concern among local wildlife advocates and rescue organizations. The Sierra Club San Diego reports at least three injured sea lions are currently present in the area.
“It’s very heartbreaking,” said Carla Pennington of the Seal Society, a branch of the Sierra Club.
