A 54-year-old man suffered a serious injury while riding an electric scooter in Mission Beach, the San Diego Police Department reported. The incident occurred this morning at around 9:05 AM along the 2800 block of Strandway, a popular area adjacent to the water.
According to the SDPD Watch Commander’s Log, the man was traveling southbound on an Engwe electric scooter when he attempted to turn onto eastbound Cohasset Ct. During the maneuver, the scooter’s handlebars collapsed, causing the rider to lose control and be ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency services were called to the scene, where the rider was found to have sustained an open fracture to his left ankle. He was swiftly transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
