‘Bolder-than-most’ rapist Alvin Quarles returned to state hospital after release violation

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — A man dubbed the “bolder-than-most” rapist, who was conditionally released earlier this year to a San Diego County home, will be returned to a state hospital after allegedly violating conditions of his release, following a hearing Friday.

Alvin Ray Quarles, 63, who is classified as a sexually violent predator, was placed in a home in Borrego Springs following 25 years in state prison and around a decade at a state hospital undergoing sex offender treatment.

But earlier this month, Quarles was arrested and booked into San Diego County jail for an alleged violation of his release conditions…
