CBP Intercepts Vessel Carrying 17 Near San Clemente Island, Transfers Individuals to Local Border Patrol

On November 19, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations, with help from the U.S. Navy, intercepted a panga-style vessel near San Clemente Island, off the coast of San Diego. The vessel carried 17 people. Sailors aboard the USS Sampson first detected the boat. Marine Interdiction Agents responded and apprehended the group. All individuals said they were Mexican citizens. The incident happened at about 2:40 a.m. The individuals were later transferred to San Clemente Border Patrol agents for processing.
