California EV drivers lose solo carpool lane access after Clean Air Vehicle decal program ends

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — California’s decades-old perk, which allows solo drivers of electric vehicles to use carpool lanes, expired on Monday.

While the program officially ended in October, the California Highway Patrol implemented a 60-day grace period before enforcement began, and before officers started issuing tickets.
