Some San Diego museums free for December Nights festival

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Some museums will be offering free activities, exhibits and/or free admission during December Nights, San Diego’s largest free holiday festival, which happens his weekend.

The annual two-night, family-friendly event draws thousands of visitors each year to Balboa Park to enjoy colorful light displays, festive music and enjoy food and drinks from participating vendors.

Several museums located within Balboa Park will open their doors to guests for free as part of the holiday celebration, but after specific times. Check the list below for details.

  • Automotive Museum: Free after 5 p.m.
  • Comic-Con Museum: Exhibits are closed during December Nights, but museum is offering free “Paint & Take” miniatures activity (supplies provided).
  • ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art): Free NextGen 2025 Exhibition.
  • Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum: Upper garden free of admission from 3-8 p.m.
  • San Diego Museum of Art: Free from 5-9 p.m.
  • Natural History Museum: Free from 3-10 p.m.
  • Fleet Science Center: Free from 3-9 p.m.
