Man killed in Chula Vista crash after police receive reports of reckless driver

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 45-year-old Chula Vista man was killed early Saturday morning after crashing his vehicle, authorities said.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, officers received a call shortly before 3 a.m. reporting a reckless driver in the area of Telegraph Canyon Road and Medical Center Drive. Moments later, an updated call indicated that the same vehicle had been involved in a crash at Telegraph Canyon Road and Apache Drive.

When police and fire crews arrived, they found the driver unresponsive inside the heavily damaged vehicle. Fire personnel extricated him from the car and pronounced him dead at the scene.
