SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 60-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Rancho Peñasquitos, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The collision happened around 5:35 p.m. in the 12900 block of Salmon River Road, where the cyclist was traveling northbound along the right side of the lane. Police say a 51-year-old woman driving a 2019 Toyota Camry in the same direction failed to see the cyclist and struck the rear wheel of his bicycle.

Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released. The driver was not injured.
